Ella was tenacious and led by example. She cared about the people of Connecticut and the environment.

Who Was she?

Ella's Vision

Ella Grasso was an American politician and member of the Democratic Party who served as the 83rd Governor of Connecticut from 1975 to 1980. She led by example during a crippling energy crisis. Taking office and facing a major budget deficit, Grasso promised no-nonsense fiscal responsibility.

In 1975 she eliminated 505 unnecessary state employee positions, decreased an allocation of federal funds of $25 million to cities to $6 million, returned to the state treasury a $7,000 raise she was legally required to take and sold the state's limo and plane.

Rather than walking to work, she decided to drive herself to the Capitol each day in a fuel-efficient 1975 Chevrolet Chevette with a 1.6 Liter engine that boasted almost 50 MPG. She was a pioneer in reducing carbon output.

Our Current Governor

"NedShouldDriveAnEV.com" was founded with a vision to transform the mode of transportation of Connecticut's Democrat Governor into EV technology due to his EV mandate on State residents.

Connecticut's Governor is currently chauffeured in a 6,016 pound Chevrolet Suburban with a gas guzzling 6.2 Liter V8 engine with combined City/Highway Avg MPG of 17.93 MPG. This vehicle is much different than Ella's ride.

The Challenge

We call on and challenge our current Governor of Connecticut to set the example of EV mandates and no gas-powered vehicles to be sold by the year 2035.

We challenge the Governor to transport himself on official and unofficial trips via EV-only vehicles for the duration of his elected term in office. At the end of his current term as Connecticut's Governor, we require you to file a completed report of your transportation experience of said EV vehicle and make a recommendation to the CT Legislature as to the Feasibility of your zero-emission mandate and elimination of gas-powered vehicles by 2035.

We're not satisfied until you're not satisfied

Let's convert the ENTIRE fleet of CT State vehicles to EV's for the remainder of your term Governor. Let's have the State employees file a report of their driving experience at the end of your term as well. Publish the reports and let the Connecticut Legislature take a vote on the viability of your EV mandates by 2035. Let's settle this with objective real-world EV evaluations and not politics.
